RENU PERSONAL POWER GENERATION AND STORAGE DEVICE SELECTED AS WINNER IN CEA’S PRESTIGOUS I-STAGE

ReNu, the first product to come to market from Regen Inc., was unveiled with great success today at the CEA’s prestigious i-stage competition, a key lead-up event to the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show.

ReNu was among 11 finalists among hundreds of applicants chosen to compete for top honors at i-stage and won both the grand prize and the fan favorite award. With its sleek design, innovative user interface, an ecosystem of associated ReNu products and a highly accessible $199 price point, ReNu is slated to appear in leading retailers in February 2010.

Regen CEO David Pierce gave what the CEA officials referred to as “the pitch of a lifetime” to the assembled tech savvy crowd and panel of judges that included such luminaries as ‘gadget gatekeeper’ Natali Del Conte from CBS and CNET; Sling Media founder Blake Krikorian; former head of FOX Interactive Media and current managing partner at Fuse Capital, Ross Levinsohn; and Jeff Pulver, co-founder of Vonage and a noted social technology guru.

“We’re thrilled to receive the awards”, says David Pierce.  “We think ReNu is an exciting product, and it was great to hear both the judges and the audience agree.” ReNu includes a panel containing solar cells, a rechargeable battery and an intelligent user interface. The  panel  can be hung or placed in direct light to capture energy.  When replenished, a user can drop that panel into one of a series of ReNu docks to utilize the energy they have created.

In addition to ReNu and its associated products, Regen will also bring a range of other light powered consumer electronics to market, including the ReBop portable stereo, ReVerb stereo tower and ReVue reading light.

Key to all Regen products is an intelligent interface that engages the user in energy collection and management.  This interface details how much of the sun’s energy has been harvested and how much remains in storage, cueing users when it’s time to place the ReNu panel in a sunny window or outdoors.
In addition to the cash prize and recognition as one of the most exciting consumer electronics products of the year, Regen, was awarded a high-profile exhibit at the 2010 International CES.  And as a result of its pick as the fan favorite, Regen will receive a booth at CES Unveiled in New York or Las Vegas.
